Richard was born in Minneapolis in 1925, graduated from Washburn High School, and served in the Navy during WWII. He really did marry his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth MacLaughlin, in 1947. Richard went into business with his father and his siblings, all of them guiding The Adjustable Joist Company very successfully for many years. He served on the Board of the Minneapolis Automobile Club and was also very involved with the Beta Theta Phi fraternity at the University of MN. He was an avid Gopher hockey fan, loved his Vikings and the old Northstars. He and Betty traveled extensively throughout the world and treated our family to some amazing adventures. One of his greatest passions was building his beloved lake home on Bob Lake where so many wonderful family memories were created and will continue. He was a conservationist and spent much of his retirement on building and sustaining the habitat at Bob Lake. He leaves behind an amazing legacy. The family would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the staff at Friendship Village who gave him such exceptional care these last 3 years.
