Obituary of James Smith

James "Jim" Smith. Surrounded by his loving family, James "Jim" Smith passed away peacefully on February 13th at the age of 87. Preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mabel, sister Wanda O'Neil, and brothers Weslie and Robert. Survived by his devoted wife Sharon of 56 years; daughters Debbie Mulqueen (John) and Barb Reitan (John); four grandchildren Shannon Mulqueen, Michelle, Nick, and Jen Reitan; sisters-in-law Carol Smith, Janet Holmes and Joyce Sherstad and many loving nieces and nephews. A graduate of Bloomington High School class of 1948, Jim was employed at the Star Tribune for 44 years. Jim served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was active in the American Legion, Blinded Vets, and Santa Anonymous. Jim enjoyed woodworking, yard work and entertaining friends and family at Roosevelt Lake.The family wishes to thank the Fairview Ridges Hospital ICU and Chaplin staff for their support and care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20th at Hillcrest Methodist Church, 9100 Russell Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55431 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior at the church. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
