Obituary of Curtis G. Olson

Age 90, died peacefully on February 18, 2016, at the senior community in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he and his wife, Esther, settled after enjoying twenty-seven retirement years in Loveland, Colorado. The oldest of seven, Curt grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota, working on farms during the summers and delivering newspapers in town. Later, he and his best friend worked at the local roller rink. There, each met two other best friends who became their wives. Curt married Esther, then of Brainerd, in May 1950. The couple settled for a while in Minneapolis. Curt was working and attending Dunwoody Institute when he was recruited by IBM. Throughout his career repairing large computer systems as a Customer Engineer, IBM provided on-going training and several notable relocations, including two years in France during the latter 1950s during which their daughter was born. During most of his career, the couple lived primarily in Plover, Wisconsin. Curt loved to ski, hike, fish, camp, and take road trips. His inventiveness and handiness enabled him to build and repair many things for his family and friends. He also cherished contributing his time and skills to his church. Curt is survived by his wife, Esther and daughter, C. Ann Olson of Minneapolis; brother, Paul Olson of Nelson, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. Private memorial services are being held for family and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the name of Curtis G.
