Lois Walsh

Obituary of Lois A. Walsh

Lois A. Walsh died in Duluth on Feb. 21, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born in Duluth Jan. 7, 1929. While helping raise eight children, she enjoyed golf, was active in politics and found time to help with Brownies, Cub Scouts and school activities. Spending summers at our cabin at Island Lake were some of our best memories. When all eight of us were school age, mom found a rewarding career in Social Work. She retired early and with her husband Tom Walsh spent many enjoyable winters in Florida. They returned to Duluth with health issues and to be close to family. Lois was preceded in death by husbands, Harold Rock and Tom Walsh; a grandson, Mat Shelby Rock; and special friend, Dick Dreves. She is survived by her eight children, Sue (Greg) Leszcynski, Greg (Claudia) Rock, Gary (Carol) Rock, Barb (Jeff) Monsaas, Cheri (Tim) Vincent, Tim (Sandy) Rock, Terry (Deb) Rock and Dave Rock. Lois also left behind 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Wasbotten. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Hospice and mom's caregivers from Cedar Unit for their kind and loving care. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. celebration of her life Saturday, March 4, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel. 4100 Grand Ave., 218-624-5200.
