Obituary of James Lowell Paulson

James Lowell Paulson passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023 at the age of 90. 

Jim was born on February 5, 1932 to Stewart and Myrtle Paulson of Minneapolis. He graduated from Roosevelt High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Jane Forster, and they married in 1952. They were blessed with five children and later with seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Jim and Jane also cherished the many boxer dogs that they owned during their 63 years of marriage. 

Jim was a machinist by trade after high school until he became employed by the Richfield Fire Department in 1967 as a firefighter and later became a lieutenant and a captain. He retired from the fire department in 1992. He also served in the Navy Reserves from 1949 until 1969. 

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends and was an avid photographer. 

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane, his son Wayne, his sister Barbara and his parents. He is survived by his son James (Vicki), daughter-in-law Paula, and daughters Karen (Charles), Carolyn (John) and Jodi (Alan). Jim is also survived by his grandchildren Katie, Erin, Heather, Samantha, Janey, Trevor and Amy and their spouses. And by his great-grandchildren Noah, Aubrey, Benjamin and Logan. 

A private family gathering will be held at Ft. Snelling in the spring.
