Obituary of Kathy Ann Weimar

Kathy Ann Weimar of Lake Elmo, MN died peacefully in her sleep Thursday February 23rd. She was survived by daughter, Aimee Chovan (S.M. Zia), and sons, John Weimar and Jeffery (Shawndra) Weimar; grandchild, Kai; and former husband Dennis Weimar. She was preceded in death by parents, Patrick J. and Mary Holland. Born and raised in St. Paul, Kathy had an immense love for camping. Summer vacations while her kids were growing included annual trips to Duluth, and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Her most treasured times were spent around a campfire laughing and storytelling with family and friends. Kathy previously worked at the MN Veterans Home in Minneapolis. After retirement, she cared for her father, Patrick, until his death in 2005. Most recently, she had been taking care of former husband Denny. She believed in a strong connection between spirituality and nature. She enjoyed cultivating her garden and found peace working with her hands. Kathy was immensely supportive and proud of her children. Her son John’s naval service, her daughter’s time abroad, and son Jeff’s cooking skills and marriage to her wonderful Daughter In Law, Shawndra, whom she adored, all brought her great joy. She treasured Saturday morning breakfasts with her grandson, Kai. The family is grateful she is at peace and her laugh will be immensely missed. A celebration of life will be scheduled for Summer 2017.
