Obituary of Jason Layne Dahl

Jason Layne Dahl of Spring Lake Park passed away on February 5, 2023, after courageously battling aggressive colon cancer. During his two-year fight, he never gave up hope or his faith. His ever-present sense of humor brought comfort and joy to all those he encountered during this journey. He is at peace and no longer suffering.

Jason was born on October 18, 1968. He was born and raised in Fridley, MN. He loved music, singing, and playing the guitar. As a young man, he sang in the Metropolitan Boys Choir. He was proud to be a Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout which he achieved with the St. William Church Troop 167. Jason was a champion swimmer and won many accolades in his time as a Fridley Tiger. After graduating from Fridley Sr. High, he went to the US Coast Guard Academy, where he continued swimming and singing. He had the opportunity to travel to the White House to sing for the president. Jason completed his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Minnesota.

He found his passion working in the medical device field having spent his career at Medtronic and Boston Scientific. Jason’s ability to find common ground within his areas of responsibility produced many efficiencies and benefits for the medical device industry.

Jason was an active member of North Heights Lutheran Church and its Alpha program. He spent time volunteering and leading within the church. The friendships he formed shaped the man he became. Jason enthusiastically gave testimony sharing how his life changed during his time in Alpha. His faith brought him comfort as he navigated his cancer diagnosis.

He is survived by his significant other, Alicia Nelson; his father Jon Dahl, his mother, Judi Dahl, his sister, Jamie (David) Pfuhl.

Jason was a positive upbeat person who loved to support and encourage people.  He always gave from the heart. Jason’s life was touched by so many, his light shown brightest when he was utilizing his amazing creativity. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will forever remember the remarkable man he was. We will miss him very much.
