David Erickson

Obituary of David Earl Erickson

David Earl Erickson passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve morning at 69 years old, one month before his 70th birthday. He was born on January 23rd, 1953, the second son to Earl and Mary (Strom) Erickson at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. His early childhood was spent in St. Paul and later the family moved to a new development in North St. Paul where he graduated from high school.

David loved art and wanted to become a commercial artist, getting a degree from Century College in White Bear Lake. Eventually he turned his hand to becoming a manager at a branch of ICI Paints in Roseville. Later he joined Costco, becoming a Front End Supervisor and ending his time there after 14 years with retirement in July of 2021.

When his children were young he loved teaching Sunday School and coaching their sports activities. He loved listening to baseball and football games on the radio. He also enjoyed listening to the many cd’s he had painstakingly collected over the years. David loved nature and was most himself outside where his connection to his faith was strongest. He took note often of the animals and birds he noticed. He loved hiking, camping, backpacking and everything cabin related. He loved working outside in the yard, enjoyed taking walks and took time to watch the the sun rise and set nearly every day. He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee and had a bit of a sweet tooth.

Those that passed before him are his mother Mary, his father Earl and brothers-in-law John (Christine’s husband) and Carl (Karen’s husband).

Remaining to remember him are his wife Dawn and her daughter Cassie, his son Luke (wife Jacqui and their sons Owen and Wyatt), his daughter Kate and his four siblings, older brother Tom (wife Becky and their sons Seth, Patrick and Thomas) and three younger sisters Karen (daughter Melanie) Christine (sons John Jr, Joey, Jesse, Jared and Jordan) and Jeanne (husband Greg and their sons Noah, Haden, Sawyer and Zayne) along with extended family and many friends.

David will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, witty sense of humor, and for being supportive, encouraging and caring.
