Obituary of Evonne Rose Bodahl
Evonne Bodahl, 65, of Superior, died Saturday, January 21, 2022, in the comfort of her home while surrounded by the love of her family.
Evonne was born in Superior, Wisconsin on February 19th, the daughter of Andrew and Florence (Cebulski) Booker, Sr.
Evonne was a full-time family manager. She was the mom, the accountant, the appointment scheduler, the handywoman, the planner, the worrier, and the heart. Evonne deeply cared about the individuals in her household as well as the family and friends outside of her household. She was a well-known, self-admitted food pusher. She loved to make food and give food, even if you were stuffed!! She was a great cook and food was her love language. Her popular catchphrases would often be “you don’t want milk, how about chocolate milk”, “you need a little dessert after dinner” or “yes, of course you can have pie for breakfast because it has fruit in it”. There were many Christmases she made up cookie/treat trays and delivered them to family and friends, especially those that were not bakers or potentially alone on the holidays.
She loved to check in, hear everyone’s stories and learn what was new in their lives. Evonne loved to celebrate happiness with her family and friends. She has such genuine happiness for everyone that was achieving great things - marriages, births, graduations, etc. On the flip side, she would be greatly concerned about anyone going through a tough time.
Evonne has a fantastic sense of humor. She loved all jokes, even the spicy ones! She would send funny cards, coffee mugs, newspaper clippings, whatever she found that made her smile and that she knew would make you smile as well.
Evonne was very generous. She was always thinking about how to brighten someone’s day. When she bought something that she liked, she almost always bought two. One for herself and one for the person she thought of when buying the item. That is who she was, always had others on her mind.
Evonne was a talented artist. She was highly skilled in watercolor painting but enjoyed making other beautiful crafts as well. She made crafts for her family and friends and loved to give them as gifts. These crafts were a true gift, and her family and friends will treasure them always.
She enjoyed a good round of golf with her husband, Scott and good friends, Bob Johnsen and Shelloy Miller. They had fun playing tournaments, laughing, and hanging out together. It was really never about the score, she never really mentioned how the game would end, it was all about the company.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew; brother, Andy Jr.; baby sister, Yvonne; niece, Karrie Ann Booker; nephews, Brian Booker and Mark Booker; grand-nephew, Nathan Myers; and several aunts and uncles.
Evonne is survived by her husband of 45 years, Scott; daughter, Sunshine (Josh) Hanevik; grandchildren, Avery and Charlotte Hanevik; her mother, Florence (Cebulski) Booker; brothers, Tony Booker, Frank (Michele) Booker, John Booker; a chosen sister, Linda Booker, sister-in-law, Sharin Karlstad; special friend, Shelloy Miller; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Pattison Park this summer. If Evonne touched your heart, and you would like to do a personal memorial, the family would suggest the following: donation to a wildlife rescue or animal humane society, donation to the Special Olympics, have a cold beer, tell a joke to make someone laugh, wear a funny shirt at the holidays, end each interaction with “I love you”, buy two of whatever you are getting to gift one to someone, and, more than anything else, spread kindness each and every day.
“Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith, it is the price of love.”
