Nina Flanders

Obituary of Nina Irene Flanders

Born 1/19/1929 to George & Ellen Stuntz in Steele, ND. Her childhood on a rural farm during the Great Depression raised mostly by her father after her mother died at 8, imbued her with a strong sense of independence. Always bright and never one to turn down a challenge, she was a bit of a trouble maker, something that she was proud of her whole life. She moved to the Twin Cities where she married Keith Flanders and raised 5 children. She was one of the first women toast masters, a project she took on with her poets spirit. Two things were always guides in life; her curiosity and her faith. She loved to learn and try to understand new things and she found great comfort and strength in matters of the spirit. She was preceded in death by her 5 sisters and by her daughter Colleen Flanders-Hron. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Kent) Hiltsley and her sons, Mike (Sheila) Flanders) Mark (Gayle) Flanders and Pat (Joan) Flanders, and her son-in-law Dan Hron, 12 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren as well as her adopted sisters, Ruby Burgess, Judith Goetz, Rosemary Buell and Bonnie Bell. Her indomitable spirit & infectious laughter will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Service Saturday March 18 @ 2:00 @ 7151 York Ave S, Edina, MN
