Violet Osbeck

Obituary of Violet Lucille Osbeck

Violet "Vi" Lucille Osbeck. "Do what you have to do" was a phrase commonly heard from Violet, age 88, who passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2018. She was born on February 1, 1930 in Ogema, Wisconsin to Edward and Minnie Garrow and was raised there until she moved to Minneapolis in 1948. Married to Roger Osbeck on October 7, 1950, they resided in Golden Valley, MN for the past 62 years, where they raised 4 daughters. Violet was known for her generous spirit; she was always willing to whip up a tater tot casserole or a batch of cookies for company or a friend in need. She enjoyed her outings to play bingo and ponytail canasta and was a whiz at doing the daily Cryptoquip and Sudoku. Violet was known for her wit and wisdom, and she was always ready with a quote or saying for any situation. She was a great listener, but never gave unsolicited advice. Violet will be greatly missed, and her spirit will live on in her husband, Roger; 4 daughters, Dawn Boh of Verona, WI, Sharon (Mark) Flaten of Medina, MN, Sandy (Rodney) Dybing of St. Peter, MN, and Diane Zachary of Hanover, MN; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Munson and Ruth (Gary) Makovsky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Boh; sister, Louise Cummings; and brothers, Philip Garrow and Marvin Garrow. At Vi's request, private family services will be held. The family wishes to thank the staff at Abbott Northwestern for their wonderful care and Vi's team at Allina Health Hospice (especially Susie, Katie, Jan, and Mary) for their endless support and compassion during her last several weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Allina Health Hospice Foundation, 3915 Golden Valley Road, Minneapolis, MN 55422. "Humor is a vital part of life - even when one is dying."
