Obituary of Francis Richard Wiermaa

Francis Richard Wiermaa, 84, lifelong resident of Vermilion Lake Township, died on March 28, 2017 in Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth. He was born on Feb. 9, 1933 in Virginia, to John and Ina Wiermaa. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Missouri synod. Francis loved music and enjoyed singing with the Tower-Soudan Community Choir. Francis worked as a lineman for Northern Electric Co-op then started an electrical construction company with his cousin Lester Alaspa. He ended his career working for the Mt. Iron Buhl school district. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ina; brothers, Melvin and Julian (Elsie); and sister, Gertrude (William) Buria. Francis is survived by his wife, Sandra; brother, Dale; sons, Jay (MaryJo), Thomas (Louise) Charles (Ann), and Scott (Kay); and daughter, Rebecca (David) Dvorak; 14 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. SERVICE: 11 a.m. April 8 in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6959 Hwy 169, Virginia. Visitation 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service. Luncheon to follow service.
