Obituary of Oliver Soholt Hoffman
Hoffman, Oliver Soholt age 83, of Richfield, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2017. He was born in Madison, Minnesota, to Oliver and Solveig Soholt Hoffman. Following graduation from high school in Madison, Oliver joined the Army where he served for two years in Japan during the Korean War. Earning a degree in horticulture, Oliver pursued his education at St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota. His career of 56 years included work at Northrup King and the Fred C. Gloeckner Company, with his work continuing through 2016. Oliver was an avid birder, canoeist and gardener. Oliver is survived by his wife and best friend Dorothy; they grew up together and were married 57 years. He is also survived by his three children, Ellen Belk, Paul (Jane) Hoffman, Lisa (Chip) Upchurch, and seven grandchildren. In addition, Oliver is survived by brother Martin (Beverly) Hoffman, sister Sara Ellen Peterson, sister Susan (Fred) Strey, cousins, and was preceded in death by brother Jim. Oliver was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to all. The family will receive friends on April 6th at Central Lutheran Church, 333 South 12th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55404: 10 am visitation, 11 am service, 12 noon lunch. Memorial donations may be made in Oliver's name to Central Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
