Obituary of Barbara May O’Brien

Barbara May O'Brien, devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. Passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Barb was born Nov. 12, 1954. She was known for her generosity and her ability to make even a stranger feel welcome and accepted. Barb seldom met someone she didn't like; every new acquaintance was a potential friend. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Donald O'Brien on June 10, 2006; and her parents, John and Lucille (Mer) Williams in 1986 and 2002 respectively. She is survived by her son, David O'Brien and his girlfriend, Rebecca Larson and her daughter, Tina O'Brien Sistad and her husband, Dean Sistad; four grandchildren, Ryan and Journey Hartshorn and Kailey and Hunter Larson. Barb is also survived by her brother, John (LeeAnne) Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Barb's family would like to offer a sincere thank you to the staff at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital for their outstanding and compassionate care. A special thank you goes out to nurses, Jordyn and Julie and Doctor Fox and the Chaplaincy service. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Wednesday, April 12, in Spirit of God Lutheran Church (formerly Zion Lutheran Church) 2431 W. 3rd Street, Duluth. The Rev.
