Obituary of Renza Halls Anderson
Renza Halls Anderson, October 7, 1914 to April 6, 2017 passed peacefully at age 102. Born in Hills, MN, Renza grew up on the farm homesteaded by her grandparents, enjoying the frequent company of her many aunts, uncles and cousins and embracing her family's Norwegian heritage and traditions. After graduating from Mankato State Teachers College, she established Northfield's first Kindergarten program. Married Paul M. Anderson June 20, 1942, they moved to Minneapolis, later settling in Golden Valley. They sang in their church choir for over 30 years. She put her career on hold to raise their family, returning to teaching in 1966. Children brought a smile to her face and a twinkle to her eye and the feeling was mutual. In retirement, she was active with the Aquatennial Senior Ambassadors, Nordkap Auxiliary, Seniors on Screen TV and Golden Valley AARP. Renza was always gracious and kind. She was a special lady who will be missed by all who knew her. Survived by children Claire (Peter) Benson, Joan (Arlie) Scheppke, and John H. Anderson, grandchildren Mark, Lea and Kate and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by Paul, her loving husband of 60 years, parents Clara and Arthur Halls and sister Erma Schubbe. Funeral service at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4801 France Avenue S., Minneapolis 55410 on April 22 at 11 am. Visitation 1 hour prior to service.
