Obituary of James Edward Friedman

James Edward Friedman, 83, longtime resident of Hermantown passed away peacefully with family at his side, Thursday, April 6, 2017. He was born Sept. 24, 1933 in Duluth to Edwin and Viola Friedman. James worked for the D.M. & I.R., Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1990. On Oct. 9, 1954 James married Janice Merling. James was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; granddaughter, Hilary Friedman; his parents; and brother, Richard. He is survived by sons, Michael (Beth) of Duluth and Richard (Barb) of Hermantown; seven grandchildren, Cheri (Jason) Grott, Sandy (Ryan) Bergerson, Heidi (Ray Flores) Friedman, Kyle, Shawn and Eric Friedman; seven great-grandchildren, Jada, Devin, Ivy, Iris, Tryg, Taryn and Jillian. The family would like to thank the staff of Chris Jensen Healthcare Center for their loving care of James.
