Obituary of Harold James Kehoe Hill

Jim, 74, of Solon Springs, passed away peacefully on April 8 after a lengthy illness. He was born April 29, 1942 and grew up on Palmyra, Wis. He was the oldest of five children and had a large extended family. Jim met his wife Mary while vacationing in Solon Springs and they were married in 1965. Together they became parents to two daughters Theresa (Terri) and Diana. Jim and his family moved to Solon Springs in 1975 and built a new home on Mary's family homestead land. While living in Palmyra, Wis., Jim worked at Waukesha Motor Co. as a machinist and later did construction work with his friend Ray Leanna. After moving to Solon Springs, he started his own construction company, Hill Construction and continued with that until health problems arose. He then went to WITC for electronics where he excelled, then went to work as an electronics technician for casino/video machines. After that, he became employed at Solon Spring Mercantile where he was still employed at the time of death. Jim was a member of the Solon Springs Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. He served as Fire Chief for 20 of those years, and after his retirement as Chief, served as a member of the Solon Springs Fire Commission. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Otto Kehoe, mother Ruth Nicoson Hill and stepfather Waring Hill. He is survived by his wife Mary (Shafer), Solon Springs; daughters Theresa (Don) Luebbe, Solon Springs and Diana (Todd) McFadden, Duluth; three grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Luebbe, Fargo, N.D., Dylan Luebbe, Fargo, N.D., and Bodee McFadden, Duluth and two great-grandchildren Olivia Flowers and Carter Luebbe, Fargo, N.D.; his three brothers Len (Judy) Hill, Plover, Wis., Ron (Mary) Hill, Essexville, Mich., Mick (Marianne) Hill., Southampton, N.J. and his sister Jodi Gill, New Berlin, Wis. Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, April 22 at the Solon Springs Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Solon Springs Volunteer Fire Dept. All family and friends are welcome to join in the celebration of Jim 's life.
