Obituary of Brian James Mahoney

Brian James “Jim” Mahoney, died Monday, April 10, 2017 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius Daniel Mahoney and Frances (King) Mahoney; sisters: Mary Flannery, Patty Knutson and Betty Ann Mills and brothers, John Mahoney and Joseph Mahoney. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion (Jassoy) Mahoney; son, John Mahoney (Judge Cynthia McCollum); daughters, Catherine (Stuart) Thomas of Sandwich, MA and Sarah (Michael) Holt of Upper Montclair, NJ; his beloved grandchildren, Cornelius “Neil” Mahoney, Sarah Mahoney, Kevin Mahoney, Claire Thomas, Charles Thomas, Addie Holt and Isabelle Holt; brother, Cornelius “Jerry” Mahoney of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Phil Smith for getting Jim to the hospital and nieces, Laurie Denn and Sheila Rossebo for staying with Jim at the hospital. Jim graduated from Saint Thomas Military Academy and the University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul. He began his business career as a partner in the C.D. Mahoney and Company. He retired as a Vice President of Piper Jaffray, Minneapolis. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 5071 Eden Avenue, Edina, 55436.
