Obituary of Phyllis E. Neff

Phyllis E. Neff, 90, of Apple Valley, MN, formerly of Northfield and Bemidji, died April 22, 2017. Phyllis was born on June 14, 1926 to Fred and Edna (Schneeberger) Mieska. She was a talented seamstress and cook. Phyllis enjoyed making clothes, rag rugs, and pies, as well as decorating and entertaining. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Northfield. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert (“Skinny”) Neff; her sister, Lorma Smith; her brother, Marland Mieska; and her grandson, Casey Neff. She is survived by her sister, Darlene Berge; her sister-in-law, LaVerne Mieska; daughter, Rynda (John) Carlis; son, Fred (Liz) Neff; three grand-daughters, Amber (Jared) Finch, Julia Carlis, Cathryn (Phil Rooney) Carlis; five great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Arabelle and Maddoc Finch, Silas and Gloria Carlis Rooney, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
