Obituary of Beverly Jane DuRose

DuRose, Beverly Jane (nee Nienhaus) November 5, 1921 to July 24, 2018 Age 96 of Roseville. Beloved Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Born November 5, 1921 in Waterloo, Iowa and married Lester August 29, 1942. They were married for 65 years before he preceded her in death in 2007; she was also preceded by her brothers Robert and Parland Nienhaus. She is survived by sons: Dan (Jill), Steve (Colleen), Ed (Polly) and Jim (Jan); grandchildren: Brian (Cassandra), Matt (Jessica), Tony (Sarah), Aaron (Tracy), Bridgette (Aarik) Lensing, Rachael (Dan) Opseth, and Jessica (John) Shimek; her six great-grandchildren; and one niece. After moving to Roseville and all of the boys were out of grade school, she worked at Donaldson’s in Rosedale as the Knitting Instructor. Bev created many beautiful things, including cancer caps for Veterans, while knitting, crocheting and huck-weaving. She also loved to play cards, bingo and shop at Herberger’s (with her discount!). She enjoyed volunteering: Roseville VFW, 20+ years at Fort Snelling National Cemetery and 20+ years at Loaves & Fishes through St. John the Baptist Church in New Brighton. Bev’s family is grateful for the compassionate care that she received from the staff at St. Therese Senior Services at St. Odilia in Shoreview. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, 10:30 AM, at St. John the Baptist Church, 835 2nd Avenue NW, New Brighton, MN, with visitation one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Fort Snelling National Cemetery Memorial Squad, 7601 34th Avenue So., Minneapolis, MN, 55450, or St. Therese Senior Services at St. Odilia, 3500 Vivian Avenue, Shoreview, MN 55126. Private interment.
