Obituary of Robert William Tuomala

Passed away surrounded by family May 9, 2017 at the University of MN Medical Center, following complications from cardiac surgery. Bob was born January 16th 1943 to Margaret Elizabeth Gould and Arne Olevi Tuomala. He grew up in Nashwauk, MN and graduated from Nashwauk High School in 1961. He attended Hibbing Area Technical Institute and graduated with an Electronic Data Processing Degree. Bob was also enlisted with the Army National Guard from 1964-1976. In 1965 Bob joined with his brother Jerry in the purchase and management of the Bemidji Bowl in Bemidji, MN. Bob married Constance Gustafson in 1966 and together they had a son, Scott Robert, January 11th 1967. After the end of his first marriage, Bob met Lee Stern and two began dating in 1988. They began life together with their children Scott, Michelle Lee (Stern) Sergot and Jason Donald Stern. After 25 years in the bowling business he and Jerry moved to Sioux Falls, SD to operate Giovanni’s Pizza Parlor. In 1997 Bob moved to Hudson, WI where he worked as flooring manager at Menards. Bob and Lee were married March 30th, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV with Tom and Sue Burlingame as witness. Bob retired from management at Menards in 2008 and remained actively employed there until his passing May 9th, 2017. He is survived by His wife Lee, Mother Margaret McPherson, Children Scott (Cindy) Tuomala of Bemidji, MN, Michelle (John) Sergot of Forest Lake, MN, Jason Stern of River Falls, WI and his grandchildren Kayle Sergot-Hanson (21), Aaron Sergot (16), and Eli Tuomala (11), as well as many nieces, nephews and dear, dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father Arne and Brother Jerry. We are 1 tenth of a mile West of Ruth St on the right after the HoHo Restaurant. From the west of St. Paul Office-- 94 East to the Ruth St Exit (the office is east of downtown St. Paul). Take the Ruth St. Exit. Turn left at the next stop light, turn left. This left turn places you on Old Hudson Road. After you turn, we are 1 tenth of a mile on the right after the HoHo Restaurant.
