Obituary of Joanne White

Joanne White, 62, of Duluth MN, passed away May 11th at St Luke's Hospital. Born in Milwaukee, WI, to Joseph and Anna Kirn, she grew up in Cleveland, OH. Joanne moved to Duluth to attend the College of St Scholastica, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She spent the first 25 years of her 40-year career working in both hospital and home care nursing before finding a real passion for Public Health. Joanne spent her last fifteen years taking care of senior citizens with Carlton County Public Health and Human Services, from where she retired in January of this year. Joanne married David White of Brainerd, MN in 1980, and spent their 36 years together living in Duluth, MN raising their two children. She was a lively, outgoing soul who enjoyed all sorts of crafts, gardening, and cooking for anyone who stopped by the family home. Her vivacious personality will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Kirn of Cleveland, Ohio, and survived by her husband David and children, Zachary of Washington, D.C., and Anastasia of New York, NY. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19th at 9:00am in the chapel of the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 4100 Grand Ave in Duluth. A celebration of life will continue until 11:00am at the same location.
