Obituary of Lawrence B. Johnson

Lawrence B. "Larry" Johnson, age 77, longtime resident of Duluth passed away peacefully Monday, May 15, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, with family at his side. He was born November 11, 1939, in St. Paul to Ward and Florence Johnson. Larry was a 1957 graduate of St. Paul Central High School and immediately after graduation he and a buddy joined the U.S. Air Force so they could see the world. His buddy got to see the world but Larry was stationed in Duluth for the duration of his enlistment. On October 14, 1961 Larry married Eileen Mikkola. They were members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The majority of his working career was spent with Northern Frozen Food, Firestone and retired from Fleming Foods in Superior. Larry was a loyal Minnesota Twins, Viking and Gopher football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Doug and sister, Patti Hummel. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eileen; children, Jeffrey Johnson of Lynchburg, VA and Deanna Miller of Minnetonka, MN; his brother, Kenny Johnson of St. Paul, MN and sister, Gayle Johnson of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Gladys Mikkola of New Brighten, MN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. At Larry's request there will be no service at this time.
