Obituary of Alice Marilyn Sime
Alice Marilyn Sime, 81, of Edina, MN, passed away on June 2, 2017, in her home at The Waters of Edina. Marilyn, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Benson MN on November 22, 1935. She grew up in North Dakota, graduating from high school in Velva and receiving her nurse's training in Minot. She went on to earn academic degrees from the University of Minnesota and Boston University. During her 41-year career Marilyn was a practicing RN at several hospitals, a professor and director of Graduate Studies in the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota, and one of the founders of the School of Nursing's doctoral program. She retired in 1997 but has continued to support both the University and the School of Nursing by funding many scholarship activities. Marilyn is survived by two brothers, John C. Sime of Scottsdale AZ and Richard D. Sime of Bronx NY, and by her beloved Italian greyhound Annie.
