Obituary of Robert Richard Pekkala

Robert Richard Pekkala, 80, of Duluth passed away with his family by his side on Monday, June 5th 2017. He was born in Duluth, MN to John and Hjila (Harju) Pekkala on September 1, 1936. Robert married Arlene Maki on July 9, 1960. They resided in Riverside where they raised their sons Todd and Brad. After retirement they resided at their lake home on Island Lake. Robert enjoyed lake life with all the company, sauna friends and corn feeds. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; wife Arlene and son Todd. Robert is survived by his son Brad (Jean); grandsons Zachary and Chad; granddaughter Nicolle (Dan) Baker; great grandchildren Andrew, Cecilia, Samantha, Jessica and Amelia; and his dog Sisu. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, June 13th at 3 p.m. at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, with a visitation one hour prior
