Obituary of James Raymond Shultz

Jim Schultz, 83, passed through the gates of heaven on September 13, 2018 in Edina, MN. He is survived by his children; Tammy (Jim) Hlad, Gerri (Ron) Rishel, Laurel (Mike) Light, John (Darryl Carr) Schultz; grandchildren; Aubree (Ryan) Herrick, Zachary (Megan) Rishel, Jacob (Samantha) Rishel, Ethan Light, Samantha (Eric) Stoll, and great-grandchildren; Charlotte Herrick, Edison Rishel, and Ellie Rishel. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Connie; his parents, Arlie and Rose Schultz; his infant sister, Rosemary; and his mother and father-in-law, John and Hilma Scheller. Jim was born on March 1, 1935 in Breckenridge, MN. He was raised on a farm near Tyler, ND. He farmed near Great Bend, ND for many years as well as working for Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative in Wahpeton, ND. He measured grain bins and acreage for ASCS and proudly provided respite care through March of Dimes. On May 11, 1956, Jim married Connie Scheller. Throughout their years together, they enjoyed singing together for various events, square dancing, and traveling. Jim was a fixture in the Great Bend and Wahpeton communities. He served on the Red River Telephone board for many years. He enjoyed being on the family farm, spending time with his family, and rescuing a variety of animals. A memorial service will be held at the Evergreen United Methodist Church, 1120 Evergreen Court, Wahpeton, ND on Friday, September 21, 2018. Service will begin at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests a donation in Jim’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
