Obituary of Edward K. Okada
Edward K. Okada, age 95, passed away on June 6, 2017. Preceded in death by son Michael, wife of 58 years Sara, and sister Mickey Inaba. Survived by daughter Toni, son John and nieces and nephews. After serving in the US Army MIS at Ft. Snelling, Ed and Sara settled in Minneapolis where Ed had his own TV Repair business. They were ever grateful to the people of Minnesota for welcoming the Japanese Americans at a difficult time in our history. Ed enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with family, vine-ripened tomatoes from his garden, watching the World Series, bowling, and hosting happy hour for friends. We will miss his generosity and sense of humor. A Celebration of Life will be held on Labor Day, September 4, 2017, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at McCormick and Schmick’s Restaurant, Edina, MN. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Japanese Garden, Normandale College Foundation, 9700 France Ave S, Bloomington, MN 55431 or to the University of Minnesota Foundation, PO Box 860266, Mpls, MN 55486-0266.
