Obituary of John Michael Kochevar

Kochevar, John Michael John was born in Chisholm on April 11, 1948 and passed in Chisholm on June 6, 2017 at 69 years of age. He was preceded in death by his father, John V. Kochevar, his mother Eva (Kerr) Kochevar, and his nephew, Christopher Hager. He is survived by his sisters, Marianne Hager (Orrin), and Marga Kochevar (Terry Terrazas), and nephew, Orrin John Hager (Ha) and their three children Alex, James and Joseph. John graduated from Chisholm Sr. High School, later attending Hibbing Junior College and the University of Minnesota. He spent many years working in Minneapolis, eventually retiring in Chisholm where he helped care for his mother, Eva, in addition to looking in on his Aunt, Mayme Stukel, and his friend's parents, John and Rose Bradovich. He had a long-standing friendship with two Chisholm classmates, Tom Bradovich and Lolly Micko and enjoyed going out to eat with his cousin, Randall Stukel and uncle, Ted Kochevar. John liked to garden and raised mostly pole beans (the original Kochevar family pole bean seeds came from Yugoslavia) and tomatoes. He also enjoyed listening to music on vinyl. A private ceremony to be attended by five close family members will be held at the Chisholm Cemetery and scheduled at a later date.
