Obituary of Mercedes F. Schmidt

85, formerly of Fargo and Moorhead area, passed away July 29, 2018. Preceded in death by her husband, Francis; parents, Carl and Bertha Sperling; siblings, Eunice (Leo) Rader and Wilbert (Lydia) Sperling; sister-in-law, Lavern (Roger) Thompson; and brother-in-law Lyle Moir. She will be sadly missed by her children, Cheryl (Steven) Backsen, Carol (Scott) Landseidel, and Jeffrey (Kim) Schmidt; grandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Backsen, Chad (Mila) Backsen, Emily (Joshua) Mitchem, Devan Landseidel, Derek Landseidel, Brandon (Jackie) Schmidt, Alyssa (Geoffrey) Bakken, and Molly Schmidt; great grandchildren, Zoe and Eve Backsen, Austin and Dylan Mitchem, Abigail, Lucas, Madison, and Lauren Schmidt; sister, Marcella (Marvin) Kastama, brother-in-laws, Eugene (Maxine) Schmidt and Paul (Diane) Schmidt, sister-in-law, Audrey Thompson nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends. Mercedes worked passionately with the elderly in their home and long term care facilities. Memorial Service will be Sat, Aug 4 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (1000 14th Street South, Moorhead) at 11am with a reception to follow.
