Obituary of David F. Zummach

David Ferdinand Zummach, died June 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. David was born to Jacob and Lucille Zummach on their farm in Ortonville, Minnesota. David had 10 siblings, Roger, Kenneth, Marion, Paul, Joyce, Arden, Jacob, Mary, James, and Dorothy. David married the love of his life, Phyllis Larsen on August 28, 1946 in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Their son Russel was born in 1947, daughters Nancy in 1954, Janice in 1963 and Patty in 1964. David loved to water ski and snow ski. Many Sundays were spent at the St. Croix River with “the” boat. Winters were spent at Afton Alps with Russel, Nancy and Patty. . David also loved to travel and took many road trips with his family. David was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He served many different positions including church Treasurer, Sabbath School Superintendent, Deacon and Head Elder. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad and after the merger for the Burlington Northern in the Finance Office. He was given an early retirement at the age of 56 and he and Phyllis spent many years as snow birds. They had a motorhome and traveled to Texas and Florida for a few winters. In 2000 he and Phyllis bought a home in Florida. They enjoyed their time in Florida and were active in the Inverness Seventh- day Adventist church. He often commented that he was retired more years than he worked. David was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis and his son-in-law Ronald Flanary Jr. He is survived by his son Russel, (Laura), granddaughter Kristy Walgren, great grandchildren Eric and Lillian; grandson Kenneth (Mystina) great grandchildren Micah and Olivia; daughters, Nancy (Grant) Kruger, granddaughters Amy (Proeun) Doeun, great grandchildren Proeun II, Avril Mui, Mavis Salah, Effie Luoth, Pray Grant, Lith Lee, and Unnah Lucille; granddaughter Beth (Scott) Arcand; daughter Janice Flanary, grandchildren Ryan and Alica, great grandchild Isabella; daughter Patty (Dave) Berlin, granddaughters Sarah (Jared) Little, great grandson Ruben James, and granddaughter Rebekah. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017 at St. Paul First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1935 Princeton Ave, St. Paul, MN 55105 at 3:00 p.m.
