Obituary of Joan Juanita Tapper

Joan Juanita Tapper age 91, of Duluth, passed away peacefully Monday, June 19, 2017 at Solvay Hospice House, with her loving husband at her side. Joan was born August 8, 1925 in Virginia, MN to Ray and Frances (Enders) Davenport and went to school in Virginia and Duluth. On February 27, 1943 she married Victor Tapper. They lived in Duluth, Proctor and Lake Nichols. Joan was an avid quilter, making quilts for her family and the Binky Patrol. She also made "Love Bears." Joan also like to fish and do gardening. She spent many winters with her husband, as snowbirds, in Texas and Florida. They enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with their pick-up camper and motorhomes. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Tapper; her parents; brothers, Donald and Allen; sisters, Edith Pehl, Eunice Konning and Ardath Muscatello. Joan is survived by her husband, Victor; children, Vicki (Bernie) Thompson, Owasso, OK, Larry (Gloria) Tapper and Glen (Jeanette Kindred) Tapper all of Superior; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Solvay Hospice House for their wonderful care of Joan. Gathering of family and friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Monday, June 26th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
