Obituary of Kathleen Rose Baker
Kathleen Rose Baker, 74, of Stillwater, died peacefully at home on June 29, 2017, with her companion and love of 20+ years by her side, Jim Garlich.
She was born to the late Doris and Theodore Jambeck on July 21st 1942 in Stillwater. Kathy graduated from Stillwater High School in 1960 as class salutatorian. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of MInnesota in 1964.
Kathy taught middle school math and science before her children were born, helped run the Shoppe of Fragrance, the business her mother founded, and retired as a Labor Market Analyst after more than 20 years with the State of Minnesota.
She volunteered at the Paul Wellstone Elementary School in Saint Paul and, after retiring, weekly at the Stillwater Public Library. She loved music, reading, traveling, and the Saint Croix river.
She is survived by her siblings Timothy Jambeck, Steven (Joan Flynn) Jambeck and Mary (Dan) Hooley; her children Elizabeth (John) Titus and MIchael (Ina) Baker; her beloved grandchildren Alex, Nora and John.
Kathy’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lakeview Hospice for the wonderful care and support she received in her final months.
A celebration of her life will be held on July 26th at 2:00 pm in William O’Brien State Park in Marine-on-St-Croix at the picnic shelter at the far end of the Lake Alice parking lot. Casual dress is recommended. Daily parking passes will be provided. Light refreshments will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Lakeview Hospice in Stillwater or the Saint Croix River Association would be preferred.
