Obituary of Jane T. McLaughlin

Jane T. (Torvund) McLaughlin, of Burnsville, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017 at age 67 after a long tough battle with cancer. She was strong and fought bravely. Jane was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandma, niece, and aunt. And a friend to so many, including her former coworkers at Honeywell and at the VA where she retired as an LPN. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by loved ones, laughing, telling stories, and hearing of our adventures. And, of course, a good walleye dinner. Jane raised three boys and taught us perseverance, toughness, and independence. More importantly, Mom also taught us the power of love and family. There was never a doubt of the love she had for her boys and everyone in her life. Our family is grateful for the care she has received over the years from the staff at Fairview Ridges, and especially the staff at the The Lodge on Summit Oaks. Jane is preceded in death by her father, Douglas Torvund Sr.; grandparents Max and Elsie Borasch; uncle Gerry Borasch; and aunt Helen Brekke. She is survived by her mother, Maxine Torvund; sons Gregory Petryszyn, David Petryszyn, and Daniel McLaughlin (Shawn); grandsons Jaden, Brandon, Zachary, and Brody; brother Douglas Torvund Jr. (Geri); niece Lynsey Nikula (Tyler); nephews Chad and Andrew; aunt Arlene Hipsag; cousin Sherry Sollberger. There will a celebration of Jane's life on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Mendakota Country Club from 5-8 pm. Mendakota CC is located at 2075 Mendakota Drive, Mendota Heights, MN 55120.
