Obituary of Alvin Ostrow

Alvin “Ozzie” Ostrow, age 83, of Burnsville and Sun City West, AZ, succumbed to a 10 week battle with acute myeloid leukemia on June 30, 2017, with courage and dignity. Ozzie served his country for two years in the Army. He was a court reporter for 30 years in Hennepin County and was a USSSA umpire for 24 years with Parks and Recreation. He played 20 years of Sun City West Senior Softball, where he made many friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Ozzie was preceded in death by parents, Julius and Tressa Ostrow. He is survived by beloved wife of 59 years, Laurell; daughter, Julie (Bill) Shea; grandchildren, Maria and Matthew Shea; sister, Donna Johnson; sisters-in-law, Beverly Fries (SSND) and Lavern (Tom) Rhode and many beloved nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina. Visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to N.C. Little Memorial Hospice of Edina or Park Nicollet Methodist Hospice. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
