Obituary of Inez Karen Nelson

Inez Karen Nelson (Hedstrom), of Minneapolis, was lovingly lifted up in Jesus’s arms to her heavenly home on July 1, 2017 at the age of 96 years. Inez was born on February 6, 1921 at home on a farm near Dalbo, Minnesota and lived and attended school there. After graduation from the 8th grade, she moved to Minneapolis and was employed as a live-in maid. For two summer seasons she worked cleaning cabins at Jack’s Resort at Mille Lacs Lake where she met Arthur Nelson and they were married on October 15th, 1940. They lived in various places – starting with Rockford, Illinois and then followed with Princeton, Regal, and St. Cloud in Minnesota. They moved to Minneapolis in 1952. Inez was a stay at home wife and mother until 1971 when she obtained employment at Donaldson warehouse where she worked until her retirement in 1991. Inez is survived by her daughter, Mary and her son in-law, Fred. Her grandson, Wade Johnson; great grandson, Sawyer Statema; many nieces and nephews; her neighbors, Jeanne Din (Sam); special friends, Irma Kliece, Florence Wittmeier, and Luverne Blake. She is preceded in death by her parents, Knute and Mary Hedstrom; her husband, Arthur Nelson; sons, Robert and Dennis; sister, Lila Houser; brothers, Albert LaCourse and Martin Hedstrom. Celebration of Life 11am Saturday, July 15 at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with visitation 1 hour before service. Luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be at the Dalbo Baptist Cemetery at a later date with family and friends from the Dalbo Community. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be donated to the March of Dimes.
