Obituary of Vera E Olson

Vera E. Olson, age 87, of Duluth, passed away peacefully, Thursday July 6, 2017 with family and friends by her side. She was born October 23, 1929 in Duluth, MN to John and Svea Anderson. Robert E. Olson met Vera on a blind date, and history was born. They married on November 22, 1949. After a few years the first born was a son Robert John, a few years later a daughter Elizabeth Ann. Vera has a love for cooking and caring for everyone around her, she would never let anyone go home hungry and she would take in any family member that needed care. She was a true caregiver. Vera was preceded in death by her son Robert John, parents and siblings. She is survived by her loving husband Robert of 67 years, her daughter Elizabeth “Liz” (Rod) Bodell of Duluth, and the love of her life granddaughter Madison Bodell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and very special friends, Jan and Doug Swanson and many more. A special thank you to St. Luke’s Hospital for their special care and to the EMT’s at the UMD fire station, and the Duluth Police Dept. We appreciate the services you provide to our community. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9-10 am on Saturday July 15th with a memorial service at 10 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, MN.
