Obituary of MaryAnn McGraw

MaryAnn McGraw, 82, of Superior, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Miller Dwan Medical Center following a house fire. She was born February 6, 1935 in Ashland, WI, to George and Mary (Anderson) Paitl. MaryAnn had been employed by Superior Dental Lab, Middle River Living, Rural Electric Association, Superior-Douglas County YMCA, and contracted to the Social Security Administration Office, but her career had been "Mom" and "Grandma". She had held officer positions and was president of Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge 126 in Ashland, had been an active member in the Douglas County Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs and Arrowhead Riders-Duluth Superior Motorcycle Club and a leader for the Girl Scouts of America. Mary Ann loved cooking and baking for family and friends, hand stitching beautiful blankets for all her babies, tending her plants and pets, watching the history channel, and traveling in her RV with Charlie, her Yorkie. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Paitl, an infant sister, Marcia Paitl, her nephew "Donny" Jack, and her husband of 52 years, Jim. MaryAnn is survived by her daughters Marlys Ann (Paul Schmidt) Schoenhals of Isanti, Minn., Janice Marie Natvik of Superior, grandchildren Joey (Steve) Hauswirth, John Natvik, Jr., Nicole (Adam Westerlund) Schoenhals, Christopher (Kathy) Schoenhals, James Natvik, great-grandchildren, Zach, Zane, and Zaron Hauswirth, Lillie and Violet Schoenhals, Carmin, Kadence, and Carter Schoenhals, brother Edward (Diane) Paitl, sister Marsha Jack, sister-in-law Joann Paitl and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A gathering in MaryAnn's honor will take place on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Town of Superior Town Hall, 4917 S. St. Hwy 35, Superior from 11am-3pm, with a dedication at 11:30am. All friends and family welcome.
