Obituary of Evelyn Marie Nelsen

Evelyn Marie Nelsen, 97, of Duluth, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 20, 2017 in Viewcrest Health Center. Evelyn was born in Duluth on May 8, 1920 to Andrew and Ada Newquist. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1938. Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert Nelsen in 1942. She worked at Nopeming and Gallagher's Restaurant. Evelyn enjoyed flowers, birds, and baking cookies. She had a quick wit and a kind heart and left a deep impression on all those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her siblings. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Robert "Marty" (Susan) and Kurt "Rocky" (LeeAnn); granddaughters, Robin (David) Meierhoff and Kelsey Nelsen; great-grandchildren, Eva, Eden, and Brayden Meierhoff; and sister-in-law, Kay Gallagher. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 3-5 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.
