Mary Chalmers

Obituary of Mary Lynn Chalmers

Mary Lynn (Werner) Chalmers of Apple Valley, loving wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend to all, peacefully passed away at Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis on December 27, 2022 after a courageous battle with a brief illness. Mary Lynn Werner was born January 6, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN. Mary’s birth mother gave her parents, Ralph and Bonnie Werner, the greatest gift of all. A beautiful baby girl. Mary was raised in Tracy, MN, graduating from Tracy High School in 1980. In 1984, Mary’s dream of becoming a mother came true when she welcomed her first daughter, Laura. In 1993, along came another daughter, Haleigh. In 2019, Mary wed Mark Chalmers, becoming a step mother to his two boys, Connor and Aiden. Mary’s pride and joy was her family. She could be found spending time with her girls and grandkids laughing and making memories, or cheering on her sons at their sporting events. You always knew when Mary was in the crowd. She loved every second of being a mother and grandma. Mary made her career as a teacher in various school districts, teaching both K-12 and Special Education. She loved her students like family. Mary will be remembered for her contagious laugh and smile that lit up every room. She filled our lives with so much love, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met, with her infectious laugh, big smile, huge heart and kind spirit. Mary is survived by her children: Laura (Adrian) Washington, Haleigh (Tanner) Alm, Connor Chalmers and Aiden Chalmers; husband, Mark Chalmers; grandchildren Marquel, Isabella, Masyn, Sutton and a Baby Boy arriving in January; brothers Paul (Cheren) Werner, Ian (Tina) Grover, Tristan (Rosie) Grover, Tyson (Aimee) Grover; step father, James Grover. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bonnie Werner and birth mother, Ardith Grover. An open house celebration of life is planned for Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 2pm - 5pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota - Edina location (7110 France Ave. South Edina, MN). Her family asks that you smile, laugh, and enjoy every moment with your family. Her loss leaves a void in our hearts, but we’ll carry on her legacy by sharing love, laughter and kindness. As Mary would say, “Never miss a chance to say I love you.”
