Obituary of Roger Melvin Magnuson

Roger Melvin Magnuson, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, Aug 7th, 2018. Roger was born on Feb 27, 1943 in Duluth, to Roy and Muriel (Pearson) Magnuson on a night not fit for man nor beast! Roger attended school in Duluth, MN and graduated in May, 1961 from East High School. That fall, Roger enlisted in the US Air Force, and was stationed in Thailand and Finland, MN until 1965. His passion for Ham radio started early and received the license designation K0MVJ at 14. His love for communications led him to a lifelong career as an Electronics Technician at Minnesota Power from 1977 until his retirement. Roger was married to Suzanne Carlson on Apr 15, 1976. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roy and mother, Muriel. He is survived by wife, Suzanne (Carlson); daughter, Karen (Ryan) Barton; son, Andrew (Mike Johnson) Magnuson; son, Daniel (Tarah Cragin) Magnuson; grandson, Austin; brother, Robert (Susan) Magnuson, and brother, Randy (Jana) Magnuson. In lieu of gifts, the family asks that donations be made to Fight Colorectal Cancer and/or Caring Ways of Essentia Health. A celebration of life party will be held at the Buffalo House Bison Hall in Duluth on Oct 6. 73s Roger.
