Obituary of Duane LeRoy Thole

Duane LeRoy Thole 1929 - 2022

Duane LeRoy Thole, age 93, passed away at Good Samaritan, Waconia, Minnesota Christmas morning December 25, 2022.

Duane was born in Bemidji, Minnesota, where he was raised by his mother, Ruth, with his siblings Harold and Joyce. In 1950 Duane met and married the love of his life Shirley White. They were married for 58 years before Shirley passed. Duane never stopped speaking with Shirley and up until his passing credited their long and happy marriage to her loving patience.

Duane was an excellent provider having a long career as a semi truck driver. He was a devoted family man and took his grandchildren camping, on road trips, and out on the lake when he and Shirley lived in Park Rapids. He awarded himself a trophy for canoeing down the Brule River and was an avid and prolific producer of Origami in his retirement.

Duane is lovingly remembered by his family: Daughter Judy Thole; Granddaughter Shannon Vietmeier - spouse Kristopher and Great Grandchildren Wyatt and Seth; Granddaughter Renee Jorgenson and fiance Kazan Dietrich. As well as his extended family and friends.

Pastor Culynn Curtis will officiate funeral services at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5460 – 63rd Street NW, Maple Lake, Minnesota, Saturday January 14, 2023. Visitation will begin at 2:00 and Service at 3:00. A meal will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall.
