Thomas Zervas

Obituary of Thomas George Zervas

Thomas George Zervas, age 64, lifelong resident of the Duluth area passed away unexpectedly Monday August 7, 2017 while at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital. Tommy graduated from Cathedral High School before proudly serving in the United States Army. Tom was very proud of his time serving our country, as it was the last time the man would voluntarily follow orders. He was truly a self-made man who took great pride in the work that he did. He built a successful business on his work ethic. Period. He married Charlene White in 1990. They adored each other, and tolerated each other's wonderful children to this very day. He was a pilot, a fisherman, a tinkerer, a craftsman, and maybe even a genius. Without question, he was a man. If you needed it built, chances are, Tommy could make it for you, and act like it was no big deal. He didn't want a pat on the back, but a case of beer would suffice. He never needed a "thank you" or a "way to go," he just wanted it done right. His way. HIS way. Then maybe that case of beer. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Tommy is survived by his loving wife Charlene, children Bernadette Paige (Chad) Turner, of Montana & son Bill White of Shakopee; Granddaughter Ellie White (the smartest child ever to walk the Earth), and his true reason for being. His mother, Delores, and siblings Jeffrey (Menchu) Zervas, Annette (Collin) Coxall, Lavonne (Daniel) Murphy, Patricia (Arlo) Petersen, Susan (Calvin) Hautijarvi, Charles (Molly) Zervas; many nieces and nephews, and his best buddy. Chaser of tennis balls, and constant companion, Gunnar. Tom was a man. A real man. Show your respect. Raise a glass, or at least, join us for a gathering of family and friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Monday Aug. 14th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., 218-624-5200.
