Obituary of Patricia A Simmons

Patricia A. Simmons (recently of Bloomington, MN) passed away peacefully at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee, MN on August 9, 2017 at the age of 87. Born in Wabash, IN on March 11, 1930, and preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harley W. Simmons. Survived by sons Chris Simmons (Richfield, MN), Randy (Cindy) Simmons (Mesa, AZ), Kent (Juli) Simmons (Bloomington, MN); granddaughters Sara and Stephanie Simmons (their mother Laurie), Jennifer and Jessica Simmons; great-grandsons Malachi, Simon and Coen Roy; and many nieces and nephews. Pat retired from the Dayton-Hudson Corporation where she worked for many years. But she thrived while volunteering for her sons’ schools where she was a crossing guard for Morningside Elementary School and a member of the self-styled, Edina hockey-mom group the “Mother Puckers.” Pat was a member of Lake Harriet United Methodist Church for many years where she was married, sang in the choir, and joined the local chapter of the United Methodist Women (UMW). Celebration of life will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (4557 Colfax Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55419) on October 14, 2017 at 2:00pm. A private interment will follow at Fort Snelling on October 16, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Youth Music Camp (EYMC).
