Charles Starrett

Obituary of Charles Robert Starrett

Age 75 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 20, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents Huella and Robert, brother-in-law Joe Robles and granddaughter Emma. He is survived by his sister Patricia, sons Jeff (Lisa), Mike (Crystal) and Matt (Jillian) and his grandchildren Nicole, Jackson, Ben and Marissa. He proudly served in the Navy from 1960-1964 on the USS Hunley as a barber. Chuck followed his passion after the Navy and opened his own barber shop on the West side of St. Paul. He later started a career in maintenance and worked 20 years for the North St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale School District (622) before he retired. His proudest moment aside from his sons, was when he saved a family while stationed in Scotland from a burning building. In 2015, Chuck was able to meet one of the children from that fire that he saved 52 years prior. Chuck enjoyed collecting old movies, working in his yard and telling stories from his childhood and in the Navy. Chuck's family would like to thank the caregivers at the Allina Hospice for their compassion and care during Chuck's battle with cancer. They truly do make a positive difference in the lives of the patients and the families they care for. Burial will be held 12:45 on Wednesday, August 30 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at 548 Gilbert Road in Hudson, WI from 4-7 pm.
