Obituary of Jeffrey E. Meinzer

Meinzer, Jeffrey E. of Buhl, formally of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away Aug, 20th, 2017 with his family by his side. His death was due to complications from cancer. Jeffrey was born on May 5th, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN to Durwood and Ada Meinzer. He graduated from Osseo High School in 1973. He received a Paramedic Degree from East Metro Community College in 1979 and a Fire Science degree from North Hennepin Community College in 1996. Jeff joined the Brooklyn Park Fire Department in 1975 as a paid-on-call firefighter. He was employed by Hennepin county Medical Center as a paramedic for five years. In 1984, he became a Fire Inspector for the City of Brooklyn Park. He retired as a Deputy Fire Chief in 2006 after 31 years of service to the Fire Department and 22 years to the city. HE is preceded in death by parents: Durwood and Ada Meinzer. He is survived by sister: Shelley (Norm) Gartner of Plymouth, nephew: Matthew Gartner, and niece: Maria Gartner. Memorial Service will be Thursday, September 14th, 2017 at 7pm with visitation starting at 5pm, at Cremation Society of MN (7835 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Park). In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Courage Center (3915 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN 55422).
