Obituary of Bruce Michael Thomas

Bruce Michael Thomas “Buddha” passed away on August 31st, 2017 at the age of 65. Bruce is survived by his children Amy (Brian) Pizzella of Lino Lakes, MN, Paul Thomas of Richfield, MN and Joseph (Jacqui) Thomas of Inver Grove Heights, MN; his sister Sharon Stordahl, brother Greg “Punky” Thomas, and sister Victoria Smoka; his three grandchildren Jacob, Ryan and Jocelyn; his former wife Leanne Magoon; and his girlfriend Connie Cook. He is preceded in death by his father Richard Thomas, his mother Geraldine Thomas, and his brother David Thomas. Bruce was born on September 4th, 1951 in St. Paul, MN. He graduated from St. Paul Harding High School. He married Leanne Nash in 1975. He worked for NCR Corporation, HealthPartners and Fraser in the field of accounting during his career. His children, family and friends remember him as a loving, kind, generous and tendered hearted man with a fun and friendly personality. Bruce loved playing and watching sports. He excelled at hockey in high school, loved playing golf and enjoyed many years of playing traveling softball with his numerous East Side of St. Paul friends. Bruce was a proud and dedicated father who spent many of his days & nights attending his children’s various athletic activities and other life events. He loved coaching his boys in baseball. A celebration of life gathering is scheduled for Saturday, September 9th 2017 from 1pm-4pm at Cremation Society of MN - St. Paul located at 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119. A room is also reserved on September 9th at The Cherry Pit (aka The Minnehaha Tavern) located at 735 White Bear Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55106 for all friends and family to gather and continue this celebration of Bruce’s life from 3pm until last call. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bruce’s life. Memorials preferred to family (Paul Thomas or Amy Pizzella).
