Obituary of Wendy Sue Ingram
Wendy Sue Ingram, of Minneapolis, Minnesota was born on December 30, 1965 to Robin and Mary Ingram. She departed this life peacefully on September 02, 2017 at the age of 51, surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Helen Ingram. Survived by her parents, Mary and Robin Ingram; sisters, Melonie, Rhonda; and nephew Devin along with a host of special relatives and good friends.
Wendy graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1984 and attended the University of Minnesota. She later went on to graduate from the Rhema Bible College in Oklahoma. She was very athletic in high school, running track, playing basketball and golf. She spent a great deal of her time while growing up on the North Side at the Hospitality House, The Way, and North Commons.
As a teenager, Wendy entered the Ms. Teen America Contest, being one of the first women of color to compete and place nationwide. She had a very successful career as a professional model. She traveled across the country modeling and making television appearances. Wendy was a former member-singing with the Grammy Award winning group, The Sounds of Blackness.
Wendy turned her life over to Christ at a very early age. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, travelling, exercising, and spending time with her family. Wendy also enjoyed finding a good barbeque, hanging out at the beach and making people laugh.
We all know Wendy would not back down from an argument and she would always have the last word.
Wendy has been an inspiration to the community as well as to her family. We will miss her sense of humor and beautiful smile. A Home Going Celebration of Wendy's Life will be held 11:30am Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Minneapolis.
