Obituary of Dennis Dolan

Dolan, Dennis 75 of Woodbury MN, formerly of Minneapolis and Cottage Grove, died on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his Woodbury home. Dennis was born on October 28, 1941, to Cyril and Susan Dolan in Minneapolis. Dennis was employed by the St Paul Companies retiring in 1992. Before moving into senior management early in his career, Dennis specialized in developing computer software in the emerging field of Information Technology. Dennis loved all sports, both as a participant and spectator. He played his share of golf, volleyball, walleyball, and racquetball, and played softball well into his fifties. He was a long time Minnesota Viking and Minnesota Wild season ticket holder. Although he never won his own tournament, Dennis coordinated a 3 day LGF Golf Tournament for 30 years. He was a loving, generous and supportive father, grandfather and uncle. He took pride in planning regular family vacations and encouraging his children's curiosity and interests to try new things. His sense of humor will be missed. He made a practice of inspiring laughter, and his was contagious. He had several nicknames including Denny, Grandpa Pretzels, Dims, and Le Grande Fromage. Dennis is survived by his sister Kathleen (Joe) Daly, former spouse Glenys, children Scott (Mildred), Julie (Bill) and Sara (Phil), his nephew Mike (Hollie), niece Colleen (Nathan), and five grandchildren, and was preceded in death by his parents Cyril Leo "Cy" Dolan and Susan Cecelia "Susie" Dolan. Visitation services will be held Saturday, September 16th from 4:30-6:15 at the Cremation Society, 4343 Nicollet Ave S, with a celebration of life and memorial service to immediately follow at St. Albert the Great, 2836 33rd Ave S, Minneapolis.
