Obituary of William Bruess

Age 58, died suddenly on Sept. 8, 2017 at HCMC surrounded by family. Services will be held at First Memorial Cremation Society of Minnesota on Sept. 23, 2017: 4343 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55409. Visitation is at 1 p.m., ceremony at 2 p.m., reception to follow. Bill was born Feb. 10, 1959 in Sleepy Eye, to Margaret and Donn Bruess and grew up on their family farm. Here he acquired a love for trains, fast cars, and mechanics. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School where he met his wife, Mary Deibele. They moved to Minneapolis to start a family and they were married on Nov. 3, 1982. They bought their first home and had four kids. Bill had a battle with cancer and had been cancer free for seven years. Later in life, he developed a love for politics, model trains with a group of buddies, his young grandchildren, and weekend road trips with his wife, Mary, to their hometown and the farm. He was a man who devoted his life to his family, always making sure his kids got to gymnastics, hockey or any other sport or activity that they were involved in. He was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor and could fix anything; he would say “jack of all trades, master of none!” A fanatic of Halloween and Christmas, these holidays will never be the same without him; he will forever be missed, and always loved. Survivors include his wife, Mary; children: Tara (Randy) Hanson, Tyler (Sarah) Bruess, Trevor (Gabrielle) Bruess, Talia Bruess; grandchildren: Evianna, Maxime, Khaliana, Riley; brother, Steve (Jodean) Bruess; in-laws: Dawn Deibele, Danny (Barb) Deibele, Jon Pederson, Denice (Gary) Teipel, Deb (Greg) Braulick, Dean (Chris) Deibele; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Donn and Margaret Bruess; Virgil and Elaine Deibele, Diane Deibele, and niece, Courtney Pederson.
