Richard Eschbach

Obituary of Richard Lee Eschbach

Richard "Dick" Lee Eschbach, 69, born July 25th 1948, passed peacefully into Heaven Sunday, September 10th 2017, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters at Solvay Hospice House. Dick was a proud Veteran, serving as a platoon Sargent in the Army 1st Air Calvary. After serving his country in Vietnam he married the love of his life, Janet Louise Peterson, and they raised three daughters. While dedicating his life to his family and work, Dick also found time to serve his community as a long-time member of the Rice Lake Volunteer Fire Department and town board. He also faithfully served his church community by participating in the church choir, council and various committees. Dick lived every day to the fullest - golfing and fishing with great friends and spending as much family time as possible at the cabin, proudly teaching his 6 grandchildren to fish, swim, pontoon and appreciate nature. Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Janet; daughters and "sons" (in-law) Cara & Richard Matrella, Emily & Richard Biske and Katy & Christopher Schmidt; his adoring grandchildren Jack & Gus, Finn & June, Mae & Lily; his brother Scott (Barbara); his brother-in-law Bruce (Lynn) Peterson, and many faithful friends. The family would like to express extreme gratitude to Solvay Hospice House and its compassionate staff. A celebration of Dick's life will be held on Saturday, September 16th 2017 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1111 N. 11th Ave. E. Duluth, MN 55805. Visitation at 10am, memorial service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Solvay Hospice House, Peace United Church of Christ, or Rice Lake Volunteer Fire Department. "You go out on the love you brought in." - Richard Lee Eschbach
